The days of the old incandescent bulbs are numbered, with many countries passing laws regarding their phasing out. One of the main reasons is the high cost of energy that is used to by these bulbs to light up. The successors for now are the fluorescent and CFL lights and lamps.
Different Shapes and Power
The fluorescent tube light is quite ungainly and is used mainly in offices, warehouses, and other industrial estates. The new type of fluorescent lamps are CFL or compact fluorescent light bulbs, which now come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and power to be used in all sorts of decor, both at home and in the office place. These CFL bulbs and switches use much less power to generate similar amount of light as an incandescent bulb of the same power.
Save On Energy Bills
Studies have shown that by changing existing bulbs from incandescent to CFL’s, your energy bill for lighting would be reduced by approximately 60% to 75%. Another advantage of using CFL`s, is that there is no necessity to change any of the bulb for at least 5 years. Of course, a compact fluorescent lamp does cost considerably more than an ordinary incandescent bulb, depending upon the power of choice.
Cool and Long Lasting
These energy efficient bulbs have the added advantage of not generating any heat, helping in its longevity. Unlike the earlier generation of CFL bulbs, which emitted a harsh white light, the newer lights are now manufactured to emit softer yellow light, similar to the old incandescent bulbs.
